Why you should visit Wadi Rum, Jordan

One of the things I love most about travel is how wrong or surprised I can be about a destination. Sometimes, even though I’ve done an incredible amount of research, I can get to a place and feel a bit knocked off my feet. It can be better than I imagined, or just not what I thought it was going to be.

I underestimated Wadi Rum. I underestimated Jordan.

There are these little moments during travel that can take your breath away, and it’s an uncontrollable feeling and affect that you can’t plan, organise or predict.

Visiting Wadi Rum in Jordan was one of those moments.

Wadi Rum is not like any desert you’ve seen before. It’s earthy, Mars-like terrain does make it feel like you’re on another planet. It’s a natural, untouched, beautiful landscape that deserves to be seen with your own eyes. It was a special moment of travel for me. I couldn’t believe I was there and that I was able to acknowledge at that moment that I felt the longing to stop the clock and hold onto what I was seeing forever.

Imagine if we could extend the daylight or extend a sunset. It’s impossible, and I believe that’s what makes adventure so addictive.
